Welcome to these pages which give information about our research and our group. Our work embraces synthetic organic chemistry, and its application in medicinal and materials science. Primarily, we look to develop direct, efficient and effective chemical routes which access highly functional molecules and materials. Current interests relate to novel chemical processes to synthesise three-dimensional templates and scaffolds and application of this methodology to antibacterials. This had led us to an involvement in the medicinal chemistry of optimization of these compounds.  Another area relates to the development of carbene reagents for reaction at polymer surfaces, and the further functionalisation of these materials. The work described here has been completed by a combination of undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and academic visitors.
